Harris has taken its traffic-and-billing system for broadcasters and packed in several features focused on the requirements of cable networks.

The OSi-CableNet software platform's cable-specific features include tools for spot serialization; management of secondary events; and interactive reporting options that provide real-time information related to new deal entries, changes to existing deals; and billing spot status.

The system also provides inventory reservations and the ability to deliver separate feeds based on time zones. For example, it will automatically synchronize an East Coast feed for West Coast playout.

"Cable networks now have a fully functional, automated traffic and billing system that is tightly synchronized with complementary reservation systems," Harris Broadcast president Tim Thorsteinson said in a statement.

The Windows-based system provides real-time reporting and Live-Update, a feature that relays content changes up until airtime and reconciles content updates between traffic and the automation log.

In addition, OSi-CableNet integrates with other network-operations systems, including the Invision DealMaker ad sales system, StorerTV SIMS program management and Harris ADC automation.
