CMT’s 'Cowboy U’ A Fifth-Year Student
Nashville, Tenn. — Country Music Television has ordered a fifth season of original reality series Cowboy U.
The fourth season of the series, in which professional cowboys Rocco Wachman and Judd Leffew coach contestants through a boot camp in their effort to become cowboys, averaged 267,000 total viewers and 140,000 viewers 18 to 49 for its eight episodes in July.
The one-hour finale on July 22 lassoed a series best 377,000 impressions among the aforementioned demo. Production on the fifth season of Cowboy U. will begin this fall, with eight episodes scheduled to premiere during the first quarter of 2006.
Six More Shots for Lifetime’s 'Missing’
New York — Lifetime Television has ordered six more episodes of Sunday-night drama series Missing, extending its third season to 19 episodes.
Missing’s viewership among viewers 2-plus rose 20% during its second season, from 2 million to 2.4 million, according to Nielsen Media Research.
In other Lifetime news, the two-hour debut of limited series Beach Girls recorded a 3.2 household rating and some 3.6 million viewers from 8 p.m.-10 p.m. on July 31, making it the most-watched premiere in the network’s history, as it topped the 3.3 million viewers who tuned in for the first episode of Missing on Aug. 2, 2003.
Showtime Raises Curtain On Dec. Eminem Concert
New York — “Slim Shady” is coming to Showtime. The premium network, whose most recent concert was One Night, One Star: Usher Live in March, will air an Eminem concert special this December.
The performance will be taped during the stops at New York’s Madison Square Garden (Aug. 8 and 9) on the artist’s “Anger Management” tour.
'Bridezillas’ Finale A Big Nielsen Draw
New York — The second-season finale of Bridezillas proved to be quite a wedding present forWE: Women’s Entertainment.
The show, which aired July 31 from 10 p.m.-11 p.m., earned a 0.71 Nielsen Media Research household rating, the best ever for an original telecast in the network’s history, WE executives said. Bridezillas’s second campaign averaged a 0.59 for eight episodes.
'Raven’ Bests 'Lizzie’ As Disney’s Top-Rated
Burbank, Calif. — If any doubt remained about Disney Channel’s top original series, the debate ended July 29. That’s when an episode of That’s So Raven became the service’s highest-rated original series installment ever across a couple of key metrics.
The “Country Cousins” installment of Raven notched a 3.6 household rating (3.1 million) and a 14.8 mark against girls 6-11 (1.4 million of those watchers), according to Nielsen Media Research data.
Those performances bested the 3.1 household rating registered by the March 8 episode of Lizzie McGuire and a 13.6 mark against the aforementioned demo recorded by the Hillary Duff-vehicle on Feb. 7, 2003.
The Emmy-nominated show is the first Disney Channel series to begin production on a fourth season for a total of 100 episodes.
'Night Court’ Convenes With TV Land Marathon
New York — TV Land will bring order to the court next week. The vintage TV proponent is slated to pound the gavel down on former NBC sitcom Night Court, beginning with a 48-hour marathon at 6 a.m. on Aug. 13.
The series — starring Harry Anderson as Judge Harold T. Stone, who presided over a host of crazy characters in a Manhattan criminal court, and which ran on the Peacock from 1984 through 1992 — will assume its regular time slot, 11:30 p.m., on Aug. 15.
