Bravo Sets Destination Days

New York— Offering a mix of new and returning series, pop-culture channel Bravo wants to make Tuesdays and Wednesdays a primetime destination for viewers this summer.

The network’s original-programming slate, announced Wednesday during an upfront press luncheon here, features a continuation of the network’s female-targeted, reality-tinged fare that has helped it to draw younger, more affluent viewers, according to Bravo president Lauren Zalaznick.

New shows set to launch this summer include Work Out, which follows the professional and personal life of an elite Beverly Hills fitness trainer; Million Dollar Listing, a real estate-based reality skein; and War of the Wives, a series in which husbands train their wives to do their jobs.

They will flank new seasons of Queer Eye and Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List, both of which are slated to bow June 6.

Original telefilm Three of Hearts, looking at the relationship between two men and a woman, is set to bow June 16.

Following in the footsteps of Project Runway and Top Chef, Bravo also has several competition shows in the pipeline: Heads Up, which pits the country’s best hairstylists against each other in weekly challenges; The Inn Crowd, in which couples compete to win and run their own inn located in one of America’s premiere resort destinations; and Top Decorator, a search to find the next great American interior designer.

The network is also developing a series of stand-up comedy specials and a pilot for a new Joan Rivers talk show.

Bravo also detailed plans for its previously announced broadband-video service, Brilliant but, slated to launch May 23. The service will feature such seldom or never-before-seen shows as Jason Bateman vehicle The Jake Effect, EZ Streets and Johnny Staccato. It will air full-length episodes of the shows, as well as interviews with TV celebrities from the Bravo and NBC archives, according to Bravo senior vice president of marketing and brand strategy Jason Klarman.

Bravo also announced the June 1 coming out party for, the first-ever broadband channel specifically targeted to the gay and lesbian online community. Its debut is timed to coincide with the start of Gay and Lesbian Pride Month, according to Zalaznick.
