BET.com: Move to Charlotte

According to BET.com research, the best city for African Americans to live in is Charlotte, N.C.

Coming in at No. 2 in the network’s Best Cities in America for Black Families were Columbus, Ohio -- which topped BET.com’s 2001 study -- and Washington, D.C.

The study examined 22 cities across the United States including Atlanta, Boston, Los Angeles and Philadelphia using a number of criteria including economics, education, and crime, BET.com said.

Cleveland finished at the bottom of the list, the network added.

“Along with learning which areas of the country are more conducive to black families, the Best Cities study helps to explore family issues in a cultural and political context," BET Interactive vice president of content Retha Hill said in a prepared statement. "We hope the results will spark ideas and inspire positive conversations within the black community.”
