Berger Moves Up E! Food Chain

Los Angeles— In her new post, veteran TV programmer Lisa Berger will have other platforms on her mind for E!.

Berger, who had been senior vice president of programming development since joining E! Networks in September 2003, last week was promoted to executive vice president of original programming and series development.

As part of her new gig, Berger will focus on developing content for the broadband, mobile and online platforms, with her first efforts fixed on such new series for The Vine @ E! Online as Carters on the Couch and Planet Gossip.

Under her direction, E! Networks’ development team launched new slates for E! and Style, including such series as The Girls Next Door and Dr. 90210.

More recently, she shepherded The Simple Life: ’Til Death Do Us Part and House of Carters for E! and Try My Life, Instant Beauty Pageant and Isaac for Style.

“As E!’s content development continues to extend beyond the television screen to broadband, online and wireless, Lisa and her team will too expand their scope of work, developing content for new-media platforms as standalone entertainment, as well as to complement the linear channel,” he added.

Before working at E!, Berger was executive vice president, alternative programming at Fox Television Studios Productions, where she was instrumental in bringing The Shield to FX, as well as spearheading the studio’s programming efforts.

She also spent 12 years at MTV Networks, where she was responsible for Singled Out and Road Rules, among others.
