beIN Sport Launches On Verizon FiOS TV

beIN SPORT said Verizon FiOS TV has added both beIN SPORT HD and beIN SPORT en Español HD to its lineup.

beIN SPORT is or will be on Channel 598 in the FiOS TV Ultimate HD package. The Spanish-language beIN SPORT en Español HD will be available on Channel 1538 in Verizon’s La Conexion and Spanish-language TV packages. The channels are available now to FiOS TV customers in Florida, Texas, California, and Pittsburgh and will be available in all markets by mid-April, the Al Jazeera Sports-owned programmer said.

beIN SPORT has rights to such top soccer leagues and tournaments from Europe and South America as Spain’s La Liga, Italy’s Serie A, France’s Ligue 1, South American World Cup Qualifiers and Copa America 2015. The network also carries the U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team away match qualifiers for the 2014 World Cup, as well as international tennis, golf, volleyball, rugby, handball and motorsports. Having secured those rights from other programmers, including Fox Soccer and Gol TV, beIN SPORT launched last August, initially on DirecTV and Dish Network. It later secured key distributor pacts with Comcast, Time Warner Cable (and Bright House Networks) and Liberty Cablevision in Puerto Rico.

“FiOS TV customers can now enjoy the exclusive international sports programming found only on beIN SPORT and beIN SPORT en Español,” Ben Grad, director of content strategy and acquisition for Verizon, said in a release. “We know how important this channel is for many of our customers, and we are excited to provide them with a way to watch the top leagues from around the world. The addition of beIN SPORT is part of our ongoing commitment to give our customers access to the most exciting sports programming and most popular multicultural content available today.”

“We’re celebrating. To be a part of FiOS TV is another significant milestone,” Yousef Al Obaidly, managing director of beIN SPORT, said in the release.
