BBCA Hires Business Affairs SVP

Valerie Bruce has joined BBC America as senior vice president of business affairs, responsible for negotiating all programming-related business deals for the channel.

She reports to Perry Simon, general manager, Channels, BBC Worldwide America. Bruce has an extensive background in acquisitions, production and distribution. Prior positions include SVP Business Affairs for Apparition, LLC; VP, Business and Legal Affairs for IFC and the Sundance Channel and Senior Counsel for VH1.

Bruce joins BBC America from FilmDistrict where she was responsible for the business affairs of theatrical acquisitions and distribution. Movie titles she worked on included Lock Out, Soul Surfer, Insidious, and Don't Be Afraid of the Dark.

Under BBC Worldwide America president Herb Scannell, Simon and company are gearing up BBC America's first made-in-the-U.S. original productions.
