Bartiromo Exiting CNBC for Fox Business Network
Maria Bartiromo is leaving CNBC when her contract expires next week and will head to Fox Business Network.
One of the leading personalities at the financial news network, Bartiromo has spent 20 years at the NBCUniversal-owned channel and currently anchors Closing Bell, which airs between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays.
Sources familiar with the negotiations confirmed that Bartiromo will move to Fox Business Network, with her deal also calling for appearances on Fox News Channel.
Bartiromo joined CNBC in 1993 after a five-year stint as a producer, writer and assignment editor with CNN Business News. Two years later she became the first journalist to report live from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange on a daily basis, earning her fame and the “Money Honey” sobriquet.
“After 20 years of groundbreaking work at CNBC, Maria Bartiromo will be leaving the company as her contract expires on November 24th,” CNBC spokesman Brian Steel said in an email statement. “Her contributions to CNBC are too numerous to list, but we thank her for all of her hard work over the years and wish her the best.”
