Avail-TVN Can Now Verify 'TV Everywhere' IDs

Avail-TVN has launched a managed service that will handle authentication of "TV Everywhere" services for pay TV operators, to let their subscribers access Internet content from programmers including Fox, Turner Broadcasting Network, MTV Networks, ESPN, NBCUniversal and HBO.

In addition, NBCU has approved Avail-TVN's AnyView Authentication for NBC's 2012 Summer Olympic Games programming.

AnyView Authentication provides real-time authentication and authorization, linking directly to portal authentication systems via the OATC and CableLabs Authentication standards if a programmer is using the Adobe Pass system for federated content or a proprietary authentication system (such as HBO Go).

In addition to managing the authentication process, Avail-TVN also can handle all billing and support systems integration, provide an API to let operators integrate systems themselves, or synchronize to service provider information via automated flat-file exchange.

"AnyView Authentication enables service providers of any size the opportunity to quickly get in the game with a TV Everywhere service," Avail-TVN chief marketing officer Laurie Lawrence said in a statement. "The service is designed to help them get into multiplatform delivery quickly and easily, without the need for major investments or time-consuming implementation."

The AnyView Authentication service provides a range of features including fraud detection and notification; automated user password recovery; and transaction reporting.

Sherman Oaks, Calif.-based Avail-TVN is the largest independent provider of digital video services in North America. The company launched the AnyView managed video distribution service last year.
