Arris Group has revived Digeo's Moxi brand, officially announcing the new names of its IP-based gateway and multiroom DVR products.
Last month Arris chairman and CEO Bob Stanzione said on the vendor's third-quarter earnings call that the company had decided to use the Moxi name for its gateway line.
The Moxi product line could generate sales of $25 million in the fourth quarter, Arris said. Stanzione said he expects IP-based gateways to contribute at least 10% of 2012 revenue. In addition to Shaw Communications and BendBroadband, Arris now has six "committed customers" that are in various stages of lab and field trials, he said.
With the rebranding, the Media Gateway is now the Moxi Gateway; the Media Player is now the Moxi Player; and the Services Portal is now the Moxi Services Portal. Arris had referred to the guide as "the Award-Winning User Interface" -- a reference to Digeo's Emmy Awards for the Moxi guide -- but will now call it the Moxi User Interface.
Arris acquired Paul Allen's Digeo in 2009 for $20 million.
The Moxi Gateway integrates voice, video and data functions, providing linear TV, VOD, pay-per-view and IP video services across multiple screens in the home including TVs, PCs, mobile devices and tablets.
The gateway is a six-tuner HD DVR with 500 Gigabytes of storage, which includes DOCSIS 3.0 data and voice modem, a four-port Ethernet home networking router and support for Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA) 1.1+ home networking technology as well as an option for 802.11n Wi-Fi.
