Animal Planet will air one-hour specialGorillas Revisited with Sigourney Weaver June 25 at 8 p.m. (EST/PST).
Weaver, who played gorilla conservationist Dian Fossey in theatrical film Gorillas in the Mist, will travel back to the mountains of Rwanda to visit the mountain gorillas and describe the endeavors of those who continue to save them from extinction.
Contributions from gorilla experts and conservationists will help to build a detailed picture of how this species is being protected in the wild, the network said.
Weaver will narrate the special.
