AMC Teams With Retailers To Promote 'Walking Dead' Debut

AMC is walking with a number of retailers to promote its upcoming original series.
The network is supporting the Halloween premiere ofThe Walking Dead by selling series-related merchandise in Hot Topic retail outlets nationwide. The chain's 700 outlets are proffering buttons, posters, keychains and shirts, as well as details for a chance to win a Mac Book Pro loaded with series content, and issues of Robert Kirkman's comic that started the project.
Meanwhile, those visiting Villa Fresh Italian Pizza outlets will see tune-in cards and a "Feed The Fear"
contest giving away pizza for a year and a MacBook pro. Some 250 locations in malls and airports are now sporting counter cards, buckslips and beverage dispenser cards.
Play-n-Trade is also including marketing material in its 250 locations nationwide, about the series. In addition to ceiling hangers and posters trumpeting the series, AMC is also teaming up with the retailer for a giveaway where one fan can enter to win a trip and tickets to Comic Con San Diego in 2011.
The series will also be featured in over 3000 independent comic book retailers, Hastings book stores, Books-A-Million, Barnes&Noble.com and Borders.com.
Based on the comic book series written by Kirkman and published by Image Comics, The Walking Dead tells the story of the months and years that follow after a zombie apocalypse.
