Movie talk show Movies 101 and documentary series Movies That Shook the World will join AMC’s 2005 programming lineup.
AMC also announced that it renewed Hollywood talk show Sunday Morning ShootOut for an additional 35 episodes and movie-talk show Movie Club with John Ridley for an additional eight episodes.
As far as the new fare, with Movies 101, the network is transforming a popular New York University course taught by Professor Richard Brown into an original, half-hour series.
“The mission of MOVIES101@NYU has always been to put the film lover at the very center of the motion-picture experience,” Brown said in a prepared statement. “The opportunity now to bring the energy and insights that come out of our weekly conversations to an audience of 86 million film lovers is absolutely thrilling.”
And each half-hour episode of Movies That Shook the World will “take a probing look at pivotal movies and examine how their releases sparked societal, cultural and even political discourse and change,” AMC said.
Films the documentary will examine include The Graduate, Birth of a Nation, Do the Right Thing, Fatal Attraction and The China Syndrome.
