Akimbo Adds Anime, Lampoon

Internet-TV provider Akimbo Systems announced deals with Anime Network and National Lampoon to post hours of programming on its Internet-to-PC video service.

Anime sports a collection of Japanese animated films and TV programs, which now joins the Akimbo Internet platform after launches on Comcast Corp. and other U.S. video-on-demand cable systems.

National Lampoon currently reaches 4.8 million college students with an in-dorm TV network, and it will now offer its programming through Akimbo.

Akimbo stores 8,000 programs and offers 150 new programs each week. The content is available for $9.99 per month through Microsoft Corp. “Windows Media XP Media Center” PCs or Akimbo players hooked up to PCs.
