Advisory Board Joins Spike TV in ‘Check Up’
Spike TV Thursday announced the advisory board members who will join its recently launched "Check Up or Check Out" national campaign directed at improving men's health.
The campaign chairperson is former New York City Mayor and prostate-cancer survivor Rudolph W. Giuliani.
The network said the goal of Check Up or Check Out is to have 100,000 men visit their doctor for physicals in 2004 and 1 million men seek annual checkups by the end of 2005.
Spike TV is backing the initiative with more than $5 million, including public-service announcements, original programming, local community outreach and free health screening events and free print and online content.

Gallo, director of public outreach and government affairs for The Dean & Betty Gallo Prostate Cancer Center; Dr. David Gremillion, director of Wake Area Health Education Centers Medicine Services; Dr. Harvey Hecht, director of preventive cardiology at Beth Israel Medical Center; Dr. Randall Maxey, president of the NMA; Dr. Martin I. Resnick, immediate past president of the American Urological Association and editor, The Journal of Urology; Dr. Emily Senay, CBS Early Show health and medical correspondent; and David Zinczenko, editor in chief and vice president of Men's Health.
