Abraham to Lead TLC

David Abraham has been named executive vice president and general manager of TLC.

Abraham had been GM of Discovery Networks U.K.

He replaces former TLC GM Roger Marmet, who resigned late last month.

Abraham will oversee all programming, production, development and operations for the Discovery Networks U.S. service.

During his time as GM of the company’s nine U.K. channels since 2001, audience share has doubled and that market has grown to become one of the highest profit generators for Discovery Communications Inc. outside of North America, the programmer said.

“David’s innovative approaches to programming, production and marketing have helped to position Discovery as an industry leader in the competitive U.K. marketplace,” Discovery Networks U.S. president Billy Campbell said in a prepared statement.

“David possesses a formidable arsenal of creative skills and business acumen that make him the ideal choice to take the TLC brand in exciting new directions,” Campbell added.
