A&E Sets Garth Brooks ‘Biography’ Special

A&E will profile country music legend Garth Brooks as part of a multi-episode Biography special, the network announced during Thursday’s A+E Networks’ upfront presentation.

The four-part Garth: The Road I’m On (working title) will highlight the prolific career of the best-selling solo artist through never-before-seen interviews with Brooks and his wife Trisha Yearwood, as well as his original road band and others from Garth’s personal and music family, said network officials.

The special will also showcase unprecedented, behind-the-scenes access from his stadium tour, said A&E.

“The Biography brand continues to be the gold standard for superior biographical storytelling and we are truly honored to have the opportunity to partner with the iconic Garth Brooks,” said Elaine Frontain Bryant, Executive Vice President and Head of Programming for A&E in a statement. “The story of his meteoric rise to fame is one of true grit, talent and sacrifice with him reaching a level of global success very few have ever achieved and we couldn’t think of a better platform than Biography to share his personal journey with viewers for the first time.”

The network also announced it has teamed with Live PD producers Big Fish Entertainment to produce a new K-9 competition series, Top Dog.

The series will feature police dogs and other canines as they compete in multiple rounds on a made-forTV K9 course, said network officials.

And for AETV's Lifetime, Robin Roberts is executive producing a movie on kidnapping victim Kamiyah Mobley, as well as an accompanying documentary.

Lifetime, riding a wave since airing the impactful documentary series Surviving R. Kelly, is working on 150 new movies as well as a documentary event produced by gymnast Aly Raisman and actress Leah Remini giving a voice to victims of sexual assault. Brooks, Roberts and Raisman were among the speakers at the AETN upfront Wednesday night in New York.
