Former Netflix, Samsung Execs Join Hulu’s Brand Marketing Teams

Hulu said it has hired former execs at Netflix and Samsung Electronics to head up its content and brand marketing teams for the company’s SVOD and live TV services.

Ryan Crosby, who last served as director of global creative marketing at Netflix, has been named VP of content marketing, where he’ll head up Hulu’s newly expanded content marketing function and oversee originals, licensed, live TV and on-channel marketing. Prior to Netflix, Crosby was with Activision Blizzard and at Microsoft’s Xbox unit.

Nick Tran, the former head of brand culture at Samsung, is now VP of brand and culture marketing at Hulu, heading up Hulu’s brand strategy, campaigns and social media. Tran previously was a marketing exec at Stance Socks and Taco Bell.

Both will join Hulu in June and report to Kelly Campbell, the former Google executive who joined Hulu last year as chief marketing officer.

“During a critical time for Hulu, we’re excited to bring in two new Vice Presidents to anchor our brand and content marketing teams,” Campbell said in a release. “Ryan Crosby and Nick Tran are tremendous leaders with proven track records, who will join Hulu’s talented marketing team to lead the next evolution of our Hulu brand promise and content marketing campaigns.”

Earlier this month, Hulu announced it had surpassed 20 million subscribers, a number that includes SVOD and the live TV service that debuted about a year ago.
