Dish Anywhere App Streams to Android TV Devices

Dish Network said its authenticated Dish Anywhere app has added a key platform with support for Android TV.

The new app supports live TV as well as access to on-demand and recorded content on several Android TV-powered devices, including Dish’s own Air TV Player and Evolve set-top (for hotels), the Mi Box, Nvidia Shield, and Sony Bravia and Sharp Aquos smart TVs.

The move adds a TV-connected platform to Dish’s app ecosystem, and complements its support on other platforms, including Android and iOS mobile devices, web browsers, and Fire TV devices.

“Media players provide easy access to video content, so it’s no wonder one-third of U.S. broadband households own these devices,” Niraj Desai, Dish’s VP of product management, said in a statement.
