CuriosityStream Connects With Vizio’s Smart TVs

CuriosityStream, the fact-based subscription VOD service created by Discovery Channel founder John Hendricks, said it has broadened its reach to certain Vizio SmartCast-branded smart TV models.

CuriosityStream is initially rolling out its app to 2017 and 2017 Vizio SmartCast P-, M-, and E-Series Ultra HD models, which also support Chromecast built-in technology that enables users to cast content from the smartphone to the TV screen.

CuriosityStream’s stand-alone OTT offering starts at $2.99 per month for a “Basic” standard-def tier, while Standard (which supports HD) runs $5.99, and its Premium tier, with access to the service’s 4K library, runs $11.99 per month.

The SVOD service, launched in March 2015, hasn’t disclosed any subscriber figures.
