ID LAUNCHES NETWORK'S FIRST INVESTIGATIVE NEWSMAGAZINE, ON THE CASE WITH PAULA ZAHN

- Zahn Lands Exclusive First-Ever Interviews with Pivotal Figures -

(Silver Spring, Md.) - Investigation Discovery and renowned journalist Paula Zahn are joining forces for Zahn's return to primetime television with a hard-hitting newsmagazine, ON THE CASE WITH PAULA ZAHN.  In this new weekly series, Zahn steps away from the traditional anchor chair and into the field to interview the pivotal figures shaping the stories covered in ON THE CASE.  Zahn weaves together the twists and turns of these cases in order to reveal the heart of the story.  Her gripping interviews, including several exclusives where people are speaking for the very first time, lift the secrecy on acts of deceit, malice and revenge.  ON THE CASE WITH PAULA ZAHN makes its world premiere on Sunday, October 18 at 10 PM ET on ID.

Paula Zahn's journalistic expertise and passion for the truth resonate in this new series, which is dedicated to investigating fascinating stories of perseverance, courage and justice," said Henry Schleiff, president and general manager of Investigation Discovery.  ON THE CASE WITH PAULA ZAHN represents ID's first original newsmagazine and reflects the network's core brand attributes of investigating life's mysteries through riveting storytelling."

ON THE CASE WITH PAULA ZAHN unravels shocking investigations that have dominated headlines and intriguing original stories uncovered exclusively for ID's audience.  To date, ON THE CASE has secured three stories where the subject's side will be heard in exclusive, first-ever television interviews including:
·        Ashley Reeves, a high school honor student who was left for dead by a teacher, with whom she was involved outside of school.  After the teacher, Samson Shelton, confessed to murder and disclosed the location in a Belleville, Ill. park where he had dumped Reeves'(Tm) body, the police's recovery operation quickly turned into a life-saving effort when they discovered that Reeves was still alive, having been left for dead for over 35 hours in the middle of the woods.
·        Dawn Silvernail, a convicted murderer who gunned down her former lover, Susan Fassett, in a church parking lot in Pleasant Valley, N.Y.  Silvernail's trial exposed the sordid truth of infidelity, betrayal and dominance, which had led to a depraved plot of murder.
·        Lee Ann Reidel, a convicted murderer who to this day maintains her innocence in a twisted plot of murder and mistaken identity.  Reidel was convicted of hiring her boyfriend and a friend to murder her ex-husband, but the plan went awry when the ex-husband's business partner was mistakenly targeted and shot outside their Long Island, N.Y. fitness center they co-owned.

In each episode of ON THE CASE, Zahn tracks the real-life drama of each story by featuring the personal points of view of the people closest to the case, including exploring the motivation and thought processes of the men and women responsible for these crimes.  The series includes perspective from law enforcement investigators, families of the victims and the incarcerated, and lawyers representing both sides of legal proceedings.  Zahn's interviews reveal fascinating details that uncover the truth while presenting the spectrum of viewpoints directly touched by these cases.

A 30-year news veteran, journalist Paula Zahn most recently anchored for CNN, where she was based in the network's New York bureau and hosted the primetime show Paula Zahn Now. Before joining CNN, Zahn was the host of The Edge with Paula Zahn, a daily news program on Fox News Channel. She joined Fox in 1999 as anchor of its evening news, The Fox Report. GANG NATION episodes include:

Episode 1: El Salvador
Ross Kemp journeys deep into the heart of El Salvador and meets with the MS13 (Mara Salvatrucha), known as one of the most dangerous gangs in the world, and their rivals the 18th Street gang.  Kemp immerses himself with key members of the MS13 gang and examines the reasoning behind the members'(Tm) involvement and the on-going war between the two gangs.

Episode 4: Jamaica
Ross Kemp infiltrates the criminal underworld within Kingston, Jamaica, known as the murder capital of the world.  Rooted originally in politics, Kingston is home to two prominent gangs and the result is a bloody turf war funded by the drug trade and spawning a new generation of violent members.

In Poland, Kemp confronts the violent Neo-Nazi football hooligans who have become one of the most feared gangs in Europe.  These groups are comprised of primarily young men with few prospects in life.  They use violence as a means of escape and Kemp experiences a brutal face-off with police riot squads.

Episode 6: Columbia
For forty years, Columbia has been embroiled in civil war as paramilitary and guerilla forces fight for control. Gangs play a part in this conflict and Kemp meets with the most secretive of them all, the Sicarios. These small groups, mostly under the employ of the paramilitaries, operate as gangs of assassins and kill whoever is considered a threat.

Episode 7: East Timor
More than two-thirds of Timorese youth are believed to be in gangs, and Ross Kemp investigates the violent rivalry between two of East Timor's gangs, the Sacred Heart and the Seven Seven.  The rivalries and actions of these gangs have brought the country to the verge of collapse, and Kemp travels with UN peacekeepers as he witnesses this youthful nation's descent into anarchy.

INVESTIGATION DISCOVERY'S DALLAS DNA PROFILESTHE HEADLINE-MAKING DALLAS COUNTY CONVICTION INTEGRITY UNIT AS IT SEEKS JUSTICE FOR THE DALLAS COMMUNITY

- Network Given Exclusive Access to CIU as It Opens Cold Cases and Exonerates Innocent Men, Sometimes After Decades Behind Bars -

(Silver Spring, Md.) - Imagine serving decades in prison for a crime you didn't commit, with absolutely no hope of appeal or parole, no hope of finding out who actually committed the crime for which you are incarcerated and no hope of enjoying life with loved ones outside of prison walls.  When Craig Watkins ran for district attorney in Dallas County, Texas, he promised to fight for justice and through an innovative and unconventional new division he founded, he's been true to his word.  In July 2007, Watkins created the nation's first-ever Conviction Integrity Unit run through a DA's office, tasked with re-examining hundreds of petitions submitted by inmates seeking DNA testing and a reinvestigation of their cases.  With more than 40 cases receiving post-conviction DNA evidence analysis, the results have stunned the nation-to date, 18 cases were found to have wrongful convictions, and under DA Watkins'(Tm) leadership six innocent men have walked free.  Dallas County has more exonerations than any other jurisdiction in the nation since state law began allowing post-conviction testing in 2001.

Investigation Discovery's cameras were granted exclusive and unprecedented access to the groundbreaking work of the CIU-from the DA's office and the court system to the prisoners and their families-and the result is a gripping six-part series premiering Tuesday, April 28, from 10-11PM ET.

DALLAS DNA represents Investigation Discovery's commitment to providing compelling programming that explores the complete human condition and examines important issues shaping our culture," said Clark Bunting, president and general manager of Discovery Emerging Networks.  The focus of DALLAS DNA is District Attorney Craig Watkins'(Tm) innovative Conviction Integrity Unit and the fascinating stories about the wrongfully convicted walking free after receiving long-awaited justice through exoneration, as well as the final chapter of appeals proving justice was served in the original conviction."

Traditionally, defense lawyers and organizations like the Innocence Project lead the re-examination of these cases, which makes District Attorney Watkins'(Tm) CIU so revolutionary.  For some of the petitioned cases, the CIU reviews all available evidence, which can also include conducting new interviews with witnesses and testing DNA evidence using methods that were not available at the time of the original conviction.  DALLAS DNA follows the dedicated staff of the CIU as they unravel the mysteries of each case, ultimately confirming guilt or watching as an exonerated prisoner takes his first steps as a free man.  When new DNA evidence is made available to investigators, it can also provide a shocking resolution to some cases-forensic proof of the actual perpetrator.  Equally compelling are the cases that confirm the original convictions-including one death row inmate who maintains his innocence even when presented with DNA testing that proves he committed the crime.

DALLAS DNA viewers witness powerful personal moments, such as when an exoneree meets his son for the first time or enjoys a simple pleasure like using a cell phone for the first time or riding in a car after decades behind bars.  These men also need to assimilate back into society, reconnect with families and rebuild all aspects of their lives.  These challenges present a difficult transition, but one that each man has dreamed about for years.

DALLAS DNA was produced for Investigation Discovery by Touch Productions with Malcolm Brinkworth as executive producer.  For Investigation Discovery, Christo Doyle is executive producer, Deborah Adler Myers is senior vice president of programming and Clark Bunting is president and general manager for Investigation Discovery.
