Sigma Lights Up New Comcast Data Subs

Sigma Systems has gone online with Comcast Corp., providing key components of
its 'Service Management Portfolio' to provision and activate new cable-modem
customers.

Earlier this year, Sigma contributed to Comcast's transition from the failing
Excite@Home Corp. cable-modem service to its own system. Now its software is
overseeing provisioning and activation for Comcast's new cable-modem
subscribers, processing up to 30,000 orders per day.

The Sigma provisioning software links with other aspects of Comcast's
cable-modem-service back office, including Convergys Corp.'s 'ICOMS'
subscriber-management system, DST Innovis Inc.'s billing software and Lucent
Technologies' 'Vital Access' element-management system.

'We are pleased to work with Sigma in deploying reliable, scalable and
modular service-management solutions,' Comcast senior vice president Ray Celona
said in a prepared statement. 'This is key in building our ability to smoothly
bring our customers new products and services in our new Comcast-managed
high-speed network.'
