Federal Communications Commission chairman Michael Powell said Wednesday that he has no plans to leave the agency soon.
“There are still things that are really significantly important for me to complete. So right now, I have no plans of going anywhere,” Powell said in an interview that aired on CNBC, the cable business-news channel.
Powell joined the FCC in 1997 and became chairman in 2001. With so much personnel turnover in the Bush administration, speculation about Powell’s future has come up often in recent days.
Asked how long he planned to stay, Powell did not provide a specific answer.
“I think for a while yet. I still am having fun,” he said.
