Pace Passes Motorola Access Test

Pace Micro Technology can now claim the honor of being the first box vendor
to get through Motorola Inc.'s MediaCipher conditional access validation testing
gauntlet.

With that stamp of approval, Pace can now produce digital set-top boxes that
are compatible with Motorola's conditional access systems, which along with a
system from rival Scientific-Atlanta Inc. dominate the U.S. cable market.

The first Pace box compatible with the MediaCipher system is the DC-755 HD, a
digital box with a built-in Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification
modem that can also render HD signals and support video-on-demand
applications.

'We're happy to announce Pace as the first set-top vendor to complete the
program, and we look forward to other vendors completing the program.' said Doug
Means, corporate vice president and general manager of Motorola's digital media
systems business, in a release.
