Magis Names New CFO

Broadband wireless-networking provider Magis Networks Inc. has a new man in
charge of the books.

The San Diego-based company named Norm Fraquhar chief financial officer.

Farquhar's resume includes overseeing three initial public offerings and more
than two-dozen merger-and-acquisition efforts.

Most recently, he was CFO of AirPrime Inc., a private wireless firm.

Magis has developed its "Air5" wireless-communications silicon based on the
802.11a specification. Systems based on Air5 silicon can manage multiple streams
of data, audio and video networking in a home or office at throughput of up to
54 megabits per second.

The company is funded in part by cable heavy hitters including AOL Time
Warner Inc. and Motorola Inc.
