Jaunt, Sky Tighten VR Ties

Jaunt, a startup focused on cinematic virtual reality production and publishing, and Sky have forged a new cross-app VR content deal that tightens ties between the companies.

Under the agreement, Jaunt has launched a stand-alone offering, called Sky World, within the Jaunt app that will feature a selection of Sky’s news, sports and cinematic VR content. Sky World is starting off with 10 VR “experiences,” including content focused on Suicide Squad, Star Wars and former soccer great David Beckham.

Sky World is initially offered in the Jaunt VR app for a handful of platforms, including iOS, Android, Gear VR, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Desktop 360.

The deal also supports a VR content exchange between the two companies’ applications. Sky launched its VR app earlier this month.

Sky is also an investor in Jaunt, which has raised more than $100 million.
