Hindery Joins Akamai Board

Content-delivery network provider Akamai Technologies Inc. added some
well-known cable weight with the election of Leo J. Hindery Jr. to its board of
directors.

Most recently chairman and CEO of GlobalCenter Inc. and former president and
CEO of AT&T Broadband, Hindery is now president and CEO of The YES Network,
a fledgling regional sports network with broadcast rights to Major League
Baseball's New York Yankees, the National Basketball Association's New Jersey
Nets and the National Hockey League's New Jersey Devils. The network is set to
launch in March.

'We are excited to welcome Leo to our board of directors and look forward to
benefiting from his managerial and telecommunications-industry expertise,'
Akamai chairman and CEO George Conrades said in a prepared statement. 'Leo will
add tremendous depth to our board and, given his vast experience in building
successful companies, we are eager to gain his insight and contribution.'

Akamai has evolved into the largest virtual-content-delivery network, with
more than 11,600 servers located worldwide. Armed with service agreements with
network operators, the Cambridge, Mass.-based company provides
content-distribution and delivery services.

Hindery said Akamai is positioned at the front of the distributed-computing
pack.

'Distributed computing on the Internet is the next wave, and Akamai is
leading the charge,' he said in a prepared statement. 'I am excited to lend my
experience to such an incredibly vibrant company.'
