Broadband TV Channel Has Wheels

The list of niche broadband-TV channels is continuing to gain momentum, and now it literally has wheels.

WheelsTV.net (www.wheelstv.net) -- touted as the first broadband-television network devoted to cars, trucks and motorcycles -- launched the first of what will be multiple online TV channels. Backed by the producers who created the Wild About Wheels series on Discovery Channel, the site will initially offers car lovers more than 300 television programs spread across 16 channels. Titles include New Car Showroom, a program covering international auto shows, and Main Street Cruise Night, which profiles muscle cars, hot rods and custom autos.

Optaros, a provider of open-source software and integration services, is building the site.

"With the launch of WheelsTV.net, WheelsTV again achieves a media first as the premiere broadband network providing multiple television channels to the worldwide automotive community," WheelsTV president of programming and development Lehel Reeves said.
