Comcast Giveth, Then Taketh, 50% Jump in Download Speeds

Several days ago, an email from Comcast dropped into my in-box with the subject line:  “Great News - We’ve Increased Your Download Speed.”

Comcast announced an 50%  increase in the download speed for my “economy” XFINITY Internet service -from 1 Mbps to 1.5 Mbps.

Then last night Comcast issued a mea culpa, saying it was all a mistake

Then last night, this apologetic email appeared - a mea culpa from Comcast stating it was all a mistake.  “The email was sent to you in error and we apologize for any inconvenience. Please disregard that email,” the customer service team wrote.

But…download speeds of 1.5 Mbps? I ran some numbers on speedtest.com for my  Comast Internet service this morning.   Download speed is 18.07 mb/s.  Upload is 7.7 mb/s
