YankeeNets Dealt Potential Blow

The upstart YankeeNets LLC regional sports service may not have New Jersey
Nets basketball or New Jersey Devils hockey games to showcase after the New
Jersey Legislature failed to act on a proposal to create a new arena for the two
teams.

YankeeNets, which owns both franchises, intimated that it may move the two
teams out of the region if a new arena is not built in Newark by 2004. If the
teams leave the area, it would preclude YankeeNets from carrying Devils and Nets
games on its proposed regional sports network.

In a statement, Len Coleman, chairman of YankeeNets' Newark Sports &
Entertainment division, said the legislature's message was 'to find someplace
else to do business.'
