‘Wonder Women’ Are Feted
New York -- Mutual praises were shared all around Tuesday as 15 women in cable TV and related industries were toasted by about 1,200 people at a luncheon here honoring them as the 2004 “Wonder Women.”
Cable News Network’s Paula Zahn served as host of the event.
The executives -- selected by the Multichannel News editors and feted jointly by Women in Cable & Telecommunications’ New York chapter -- made up the biggest Wonder Women class yet of the seven named so far, so it took a while for them all to get their chance in the limelight, but their remarks were warmly received.
In reverse alphabetical order, they are: Lauren Zalaznick, president of Trio and Bravo at NBC Universal Cable; Linda Yaccarino, executive vice president and general manager for Turner Entertainment Sales and marketing; Meredith Wagner, executive VP of public affairs and corporate communications at Lifetime Television; Pandit Wright, senior VP of human resources and administration at Discovery Communications Inc.; Susan Swain, executive VP and co-chief operating officer of C-SPAN; Harriet Novet, VP of Time Warner Cable of New York and New Jersey; Stacey Lynn Koerner, executive VP and director of global research integration at Initiative; Michele James of James & Co.; Suzanne Keenan, senior VP of customer service at Comcast Corp.; Lisa Hall, president and COO of Oxygen Media; Jill Greenthal, senior managing director of corporate advisory services at The Blackstone Group; Lauren Corrao, senior VP of original programming and development at Comedy Central; Stephanie Campbell, recently retired executive VP of programming at DirecTV Inc.; Deborah Blackwell, senior VP and general manager of SOAPnet; and Nomi Bergman, executive VP of strategy and development at Advance/Newhouse Communications.
The event also honored 16 female executives singled out as “Women to Watch.”
The luncheon was held at the Marriott Marquis New York, the site earlier Tuesday of Horowitz Associates Inc.’s Fifth Annual Forum: State of Cable and Broadband, a marketing conference.
Tuesday night, a gala dinner was scheduled to be held at the hotel in honor of Cable Positive and Carole Black, the recently retired CEO of Lifetime.
