Waves Audio Mutes World Cup Vuvuzelas

Waves Audio has developed a solution to reduce Vuvuzela trumpet sounds heard during 2010 FIFA World Cup telecasts.

In response to the widely publicized complaints from TV viewers and broadcasters about the continuous Vuvuzela blasts, Waves worked in conjunction with "a major television broadcaster" to create a real-time processing chain consisting of two plugins that reportedly proved effective.

The plugins are the WNS Waves Noise Suppressor and the Q10 Paragraphic Equalizer, which the company says not only reduce the Vuvuzela noise, but increase the intelligibility of the game announcers' play-by-play action and color commentary as well.
