Vyyo Buys Xtend Networks

Vyyo Inc. has entered into an agreement to buy Xtend Networks Ltd. in a stock-and-cash deal for $19.6 million.
Vyyo also announced that it is offering a new T-1 line service for cable operators to deploy for its business-services division.
Xtend's product line includes multiplexing devices, broadband amplifiers, splitters and consumer-premises devices that that extend the last-mile spectrum of cable systems. The company said operators can adjust spectrum from 860 megahertz to 3 gigahertz.
Xtend is trials with one major MSO for its bandwidth-expansion products.
