Viaplay has deployed a multiplatform search and recommendations engine from ThinkAnalytics for its online pay-TV service in the Nordics, including in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland.
Viaplay said it selected ThinkAnalytics because of its ability to manage cloud-based search and recommendations in Swedish, Norwegian, Danish and Finnish, as well as its range of recommendations techniques and metadata enhancement capabilities. The recommendations engine is integrated with the mpx video publishing system from thePlatform, a Comcast-owned division.
Viaplay deployment of ThinkAnalytics’ system uses a mix of non-personalized and personalized elements, including content in categories such as “content for you,” “what’s popular,” across supported devices, including PCs, smartphones, tablets, smart TVs, and game consoles.
“We realized early on that recommendations help us to showcase our vast library of premium content,” said Rikard Steiber, CEO of Viaplay, in a statement.
ThinkAnalytics claims to have a customer base of more than 50 video content and service providers, including Fox, Cox Communications, Liberty Global, BSkyB, Swisscom, Unitymedia in Germany, and Zon in Portugal.
