VH1 scored big with its 2003 awards show Sunday night.
The network's VH1 Big in '03 special Nov. 30 garnered a 1.3 rating among its target adults 18-49 demo. The performance -- the sixth-highest in the service's history -- more than doubled the 0.6 rating against that group the network registered last year with its VH1 Big in 2002 Awards.
All told, Big in '03, filmed at Los Angeles' Universal Amphitheatre Nov. 20, attracted 1.91 million viewers, a 114% jump from the comparable show last year.
Hosted by comedian D.L. Hughley, the pop-culture celebration chronicled the year in music, TV, movies, personalities and events and featured appearances by Vivica Fox, Beyonce, Nikki Hilton, Will Smith, Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson, Katie Holmes, Sarah Silverman, Dave Chappelle, Colin Quinn, David Spade and Paige Davis.
There were also performances by Kid Rock, Shania Twain, Matchbox Twenty and Outkast.
