Verismo Networks Debuts ViPTV Set-Top

Verismo Networks announced the availability of its ViPTV platform, which it described as “a complete end-to-end system targeted at content providers and aggregators that enables their audiences to view video-on-demand with the simple click of a TV remote.”

The IPTV-technology vendor said content providers including movie studios, TV networks, user-generated Web sites and special-interest groups can now deliver high-quality video content over standard broadband directly to a TV without the use of a PC via the ViPTV set-top box.

The ViPTV platform includes Microsoft’s Digital Rights Manager, and its servers format content to Windows Media Video.

Verismo said the 80-gigabyte hard disk in its set-top can hold up to 100 hours of high-quality video.
