Verimatrix Acquires German Conditional-Access Vendor Comvenient
By MCN Staff
Verimatrix, a provider of content security and digital rights management technologies, announced the acquisition of Comvenient GmbH, a German developer of Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) conditional access technology.
Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Verimatrix expects to expand its ability to serve digital TV operators through the acquisition, with plans to integrate Comvenient's DVB technology into its multi-network solutions architecture.
Munich-based Comvenient has more than 100 operator customers for its CA system. The company entered into a strategic relationship with Verimatrix in November 2008. The combined company will use the existing Comvenient headquarters in Munich as its security development and support center.
Privately held Comvenient was a spun off from BetaResearch, a supplier of end-to-end systems for digital TV, in a management-led buyout in September 2003.
