USA Signs Eco-Challenge Sponsors

USA Network announced Monday that it has booked General Motors Corp.'s Chevy
Trucks and a half-dozen other major sponsors for Eco-Challenge Fiji, a
five-hour primetime competition that bows May 5.

Due across four nights, the event will run in one-hour installments May 5
through 7, with a two-hour finale set for May 8.

Chevy Trucks will be the presenting sponsor, with Eastman Kodak Co.'s Kodak
Max water and sports camera, The Smirnoff Co.'s Smirnoff Ice Triple Black,
Yahoo! Inc., Verizon Communications' Verizon Wireless, Warner-Lambert Co.'s
Schick X-treme 3 and Mad River Canoe as participating sponsors.

The advertisers also get plugs via product placements and team names in the
endurance competition.

The actual competition -- created by Mark Burnett of Survivor fame --
took place last October, starting with 81 four-person teams representing 23
nations. That number soon dwindled to 23 teams.
