Ubee's Mao Named President

Ubee Interactive, a worldwide supplier of DOCSIS 3.0 cable modems and other communications devices, announced that executive chairman Robert Y. L. Mao will assume the role of president as of Jan. 16, after the retirement of CEO Yuan-Hao Lin.

"We thank Yuan-Hao for his contributions to Ubee and look forward to welcoming him as a board member after his retirement," Mao said in a statement.

Mao previously he was CEO of 3Com, which was acquired by Hewlett-Packard in early 2010. Prior to that he ran Nortel Networks' China operations from 1997 to 2006 and has worked for Alcatel-Lucent and ITT. 

Ubee, based in Taiwan, has offices for the Americas region in Englewood, Colo. Ubee changed its name from Ambit Broadband in 2009.
