TWC Biz Unit Scores Fiber Services Hunting License

Stoking a growing commercial services segment, Time Warner Cable Business Class said it has been picked as an “approved national vendor” for MiCTA, an association that representing non-profit groups such as schools, healthcare, and government organizations.

The deal gives TWCBC a pathway to MiCTA members and the ability to sell in its fiber-based Ethernet services and Dedicated Internet Access (DIA) offerings.

TWCBC said its new status also eliminates the need for members to conduct their own competitive bidding for services.

The agreement represents a new revenue opportunity for TWC’s business-focused division. That unit pulled in revenues of $803 million in the second quarter of 2015, up 16.2% from $691 million generated in the year-ago period.

“MiCTA members rely on our ability to negotiate affordable rates with quality service providers,” said MiCTA chief operating officer Tim von Hoff, in a statement. “Time Warner Cable Business Class is a valued addition to our program because the company delivers reliable, advanced solutions in many communities across the country.”

TWCBC said its DIA service is ideal for organizations that need large bandwidth to the Internet over a SLA-backed network that can deliver consistent speeds from 5 Mbps up to 10 Gbps.
