Turner Hits Play with GameTap TV

Turner Broadcasting System Inc. once again expanded its Internet offerings, unveiling GameTap TV, an online mix of channels and shows including more than 250 on-demand videos, all aimed at broadband users.

An addition to TBS’ GameTap online portal (www.gametap.com), the GameTap TV channels are geared for gaming mavens, offering video programs with “big-screen” TV-viewing controls. With those controls, users can bookmark programs and games for future viewing.

"We have compelling and funny TV shows that you really can't find anywhere else,” said Ricardo Sanchez, vice president of content. “Every week, we launch new games on our service and serve up original shows to entertain you on game-play breaks -- we don't just push recycled TV content and cutting-room-floor material at our audience."

Among the new channels are an “OnTap” guide to programs on the portal; “GameTap Originals,” featuring shows such as Challenged, a reality program where gamers settle grudges through game play; plus music and animation channels.

Meanwhile, the GameTap portal now offers more than 400 video games, making it one of the largest outlets for on-demand gaming content on the Internet. Turner is offering GameTap content for a $9.95 monthly subscription.
