Thomas Jane Joins 'The Expanse'

Thomas Jane has been added to the cast of The Expanse, SyFy’s forthcoming 10-episode series.

The series, which is based on James S.A. Corey’s series of science fiction novels by the same name, is a space thriller set 200 years in the future. James S.A. Corey is the pen name used by collaborative authors Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck, both of whom will serve as producers on the show.

Jane has been cast as Detective Miller, a police officer who works with a ship captain to investigate a missing heiress.

“Thomas Jane is exactly the type of high caliber actor we hoped this project would attract. The intelligence and nuance he brings to every performance is perfect for the role of Miller,” said Bill McGoldrick, executive vice president, Original Content, SyFy, in a statement.

The network is billing the series as a “space opera,” similar to its series Battlestar Galactica, which ended its run in 2009 after four seasons.

The Expanse is produced for SyFy by Alcon Television Group.
