Television’s Tale of Two Realities
As the ratings race keeps intensifying and the lines between cable and broadcasting keep blurring, unscripted programming tells a somewhat different story. In terms of suppliers, though, a Ratings Intelligence analysis of Nielsen data shows the field is more wide open on the cable side, with 15 different companies producing the top 15 programs. The broadcast landscape is far more consolidated, as five companies have had a hand in more than one top-rated broadcast show.
