Suzanne Scott Named CEO of Fox News, Fox Business Network

In a major management move, Fox News programming veteran Suzanne Scott has been named Fox News and Fox Business Network chief executive officer, while Jay Wallace will take over as Fox News president and executive editor.

Scott -- who has been with Fox News since its inception nearly 22 years ago -- most recently served as president of programming for Fox News, where she co-created such shows as Outnumbered Overtime w/ Harris Faulkner, The Story w/ Martha MacCallum and The Daily Briefing w/ Dana Perino.

Scott will report jointly to Lachlan Murdoch and Rupert Murdoch, 21st Century Fox Executive Chairman, Executive Chairman of FOX News and Co-Chairman of the proposed New Fox.

“Suzanne has been instrumental in the success of Fox News and she has now made history as its first female CEO," said Lachlan Murdoch in a statement. “Her vision and innovation have helped create some of the most popular and lucrative primetime programs on cable and as we embark on the era of the proposed New Fox, I am confident that Suzanne’s leadership will ensure the dominance of both FOX News & FBN for years to come.”

Additionally, former Fox News president of news and editorial Jay Wallace has been appointed to the position of Fox News president and executive editor, while Jack Abernethy will continue as CEO of the newly expanded Fox Television Stations Group, according to the company.

The moves come as 21st Century Fox prepares to sell off numerous assets to Disney as part of a $52.4 billion all-stock deal announced last December. Once the deal is completed, Fox News will serve as a key asset of the New Fox, which will also include FBN, Fox Sports, FS1 and Fox Broadcasting.
