SuperComm's IP Crossover

A handful of cable-related deals marked the the opening day at the telephone industry's SuperComm trade show in Chicago, with Syndeo Corp. and IP Unity announcing a reseller agreement.

Both companies are active in the telco and cable voice-over-Internet protocol space.

IP Unity makes the Harmony 6000 media/applications server, while Syndeo builds call-management servers and gateway controllers.

The two companies will work together to sell each other's hardware in a joint product suite. IP Unity also debuted its new MPEG-4 video-chat application at SuperComm.
Acterna debuted its VoIP test and management solution, which "allows for more in-depth troubleshooting at the premise by less experienced technicians and leverages the use of experienced technicans without field deployment," John Govert, global vice president of strategy development at Acterna's telecom division, said in a statement.
"Voice-packet captures at a customer site can be sent to a remote server for in-depth voice and protocol analysis, rather than requiring the deployment of a higher-tiered, more experienced data engineer in the field," he said.
Acterna also added support for layer-2 and layer-3 testing for its FST-2802 gigabit Ethernet field tester.
