`Streamies' Could Live Without TV: Arbitron

The Arbitron Co. announced Tuesday that its latest research indicated that
one-third of Americans with Internet access at home would give up television if
forced to choose between TV and the Web.

The latest Arbitron/Edison Media Research study, 'Streaming at a Crossroads,'
added that 'streamies' -- those who have viewed or listened to streaming media
online -- would be more likely to get rid of TV.

A day earlier, Statistical Research Inc. reported that its new study, 'The
TV/PC Connection 2001,' found that 80 percent of consumers who use their TV set
and their PC simultaneously regard the PC as their primary
activity.
