Starz Bumps Nancy McGee Up To Marketing EVP
Nancy McGee has been promoted to executive vice president of marketing at Starz Entertainment, promoted from senior VP and expanding her role in Starz’s brand execution.
In addition to responsibility for branding, marketing, research and new product development for the Starz channels and related services, she will gain responsibility for marketing all live-action television productions whether for the Starz channels or other distribution outlets and overall responsibility for the branding strategy wherever the Starz name is used, including home video, theatrical and Internet services.
Starz Entertainment president and COO Bill Myers said in a release: “Since Nancy joined us last year, she has executed a highly successful nationwide branding campaign – our first in several years – including a bold new logo and a new on-air look for our channels. She launched the marketing effort for Crash, our first hour-long dramatic series for the Starz channels. And she leads the team that developed the Starz Green Room events at the upcoming Democratic National Convention in Denver.”
In “a period of rapid growth and change,” Myers said in the release, he was “delighted that we have a person with Nancy’s talent and dedication to ensure that we will have a coordinated and innovative marketing and branding strategy for all of our new initiatives.”
McGee joined Starz in February 2007. She had been SVP of marketing and sales for Adelphia Communications from August 2004 to August 2006, when Adelphia was sold to Time Warner Inc. and Comcast. Before that she held senior marketing positions with leading cable companies AT&T Broadband and MediaOne. She began her career with US West.
She reports to Myers and leads a team that includes marketing, communications, branding, research, online/new media, and product development.
Starz’s 16 movie channels, including the Starz and Encore brands, have about 17 million and 31.3 million subscribers respectively
