Starz Boosts Its Library

Starz Encore Group LLC announced library-license deals with Universal
Domestic Television and Buena Vista Pay Television Sales for airings on its
multiplex channels. Announced at the National Association of Television
Programming Executives' convention in New Orleans, the agreements, terms of
which were not disclosed, also encompassed the rights to make the programming
available on its subscription-video-on-demand Starz On Demand service.

The Universal pact will give the Starz! Cinema multiplex such theatricals as
Robert Altman's Cookie's Fortune, Mike Leigh's Secrets & Lies
and Robert Duval vehicle The Apostle.

Tween channel WAM! America's Kidz Network , meanwhile, has gained the
exclusive U.S. rights to series Young Hercules and Weird
Science
.

And Starz's Westerns Channel will be the exclusive U.S. home to 1970s series
Alias Smith and Jones, starring Pete Duel and Ben Murphy.

As for the Buena Vista accord, Starz Encore has secured such notable films as
Intermezzo (Ingrid Bergman), Duel in the Sun (Gregory Peck),
Alfred Hitchcock's Notorious, Rebecca (Joan Fontaine, Lawrence
Olivier) Woody Allen's Take the Money and Run and They Shoot Horses,
Don't They?
(Jane Fonda).
