MURPH: The Protector, the feature-length documentary about Congressional Medal of Honor recipient Lt. Michael Murphy, will land on the Sportsman Channel for its network cable debut.
The documentary, which is based on the real life story of the man portrayed by Taylor Kitsch in the 2013 feature film Lone Survivor, will air on the network Thursday and Friday, September 4-5 at 7 p.m. E.T. Lt. Murphy died while serving as a U.S. Navy SEAL in Afghanistan in 2005.
"MURPH: The Protector is an emotional rollercoaster that documents the life of a true American hero and Sportsman Channel is proud to have the opportunity to televise the cable network premiere of his story," said Greg Hale, vice president of business development for Sportsman Channel, in a release.
The film will air as part of the Sportsman Channel's Salute to Service initiative, featuring military and service-related programming across the network's various distribution outlets.
