Spaulding Bouncing Away from Starz

Que Spaulding, the distribution president at Starz Encore Group LLC, is
expected to announce retirement plans Tuesday, a person familiar with the matter
said.

Spaulding is one of the organization’s longest-tenured employees, with 11
years’ service, and he has been in the industry for about 24 years. He’s 63, the
source said, and he is opting to retire for personal reasons. He’s expected to
say he’ll stay on until the end of the year.

Starz Encore is expected to announce a replacement for Spaulding soon.

The Liberty Media Corp.-owned premium programmer is embroiled in litigation
with the top U.S. MSO, Comcast Corp., over carriage terms Comcast refuses to
inherit from AT&T Broadband, and it has had trouble getting cable
distribution for its Starz On Demand subscription-video-on-demand service.
